PALM COAST, Fla. --The Flagler County Sheriff's Office is offering a free program focusing on ways to avoid being a fraud victim.

The program will be held Monday, October 28 at 10 a.m. at the Palm Coast Community Center on Clubhouse Drive.

Flagler Sheriff Donald W. Fleming said, "This is a vitally important program to the senior citizens in our community.  Scam artists prey on the elderly, so I am proud to offer a workshop to help inform them of what they need to do to protect themselves."

The program will be presented by Cpl. Kevin Byrne, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office's Crime Prevention Specialist.

The program will focus on telephone and internet scams.

Cpl. Byrne said, "The internet has become another tool for these scam artists.  It is important to be skeptical of every email you receive."

During the program Cpl. Byrne will review common scams and frauds in which seniors are commonly victims.  Afterward, there will be a question and answer session.

Admission is free and there will be light refreshments.
