DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Wildlife officials are investigating after a Florida black bear was hit and killed on Interstate 95 in Daytona Beach.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Joy Hill tells the Daytona Beach News Journal the bear was hit overnight Monday. It was not immediately known if the driver of the car was injured.
Hill says the bear was about 200 to 300 pounds.
The commission reports that bears are busy stocking up on calories this fall. Bear-related calls are up this year in many parts of the state.
