Amazon.com Inc. is hiring 50,000 temporary holiday workers this year.
The company says it expects "thousands" of those workers will be hired full-time after the holidays. Full-time workers receive stock grants and benefits. Amazon says their employees make 30 percent more than traditional retail employees.
Other major retailers have announced simliar hiring plans.
Macy's Inc. announced it will hire 80,000 seasonal workers. Wal-Mart
Stores Inc. will add 50,000 jobs for the holidays. And Toy R Us Inc.
plans to hire 45,000 seasonal workers this year.
