BRADENTON, Fla. -- Two people died in a crash near Bradenton, bringing the total of crash-related fatalities in Manatee County to four in a 24-hour span.

The Florida Highway Patrol says 63-year-old Flaviano Avalos and 55-year-old Claudia Avalos died just after noon Sunday in a crash along U.S. 1 in Manatee County.

The Bradenton Herald reports the couple's pickup truck was heading east when it failed to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle struck a larger pickup truck. The driver of that vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Earlier Sunday authorities say 33-year-old Shadeed Brandian was struck as he walked across U.S. 41 near Bradenton. And 32-year-old Jimmy Dixon died late Saturday when the swamp buggy he was riding overturned in a pond.
