MIAMI -- A Miami man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his roommate.
A Miami-Dade County judge sentenced 40-year-old Eric McDade on Thursday. He was convicted in August of second-degree murder.
Authorities say McDade fatally stabbed Erica Scott in June 2010. The Miami Herald reports that the two had worked together at a Shorty's barbecue restaurant. McDade left the state after Scott's death and was arrested at a North Carolina bamboo farm.
McDade previously served 12 years in prison for fatally shooting a Broward County woman in 1995.Prosecutors say he had only been out of prison 18 months when he killed Scott.
