Actress Laura Linney takes on a very important role that has a connection to one of her most familiar characters.
Linney stars in Showtime drama The Big C,
about a suburban mom who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma. And
today, she begins starring in a print PSA that is designed to raise
awareness about the benefits of protecting oneself from harmful exposure
to UV rays that raise the risk of being diagnosed with melanoma, the
deadliest of all skin cancers.
The "Wear Your Beauty Brilliantly" campaign is a joint project of Stand Up To Cancer and the Melanoma Research Alliance.
Linney's role on The Big C
already has helped raise awareness about melanoma, and the actress is
well-versed in the preventive measures one can take to reduce chances of
a melanoma diagnosis.
"All it takes is a single reminder for a person to do a self-exam that could save his or her life," Linney says in a statement.
