MIAMI (AP) -- An off-duty Miami-Dade Police officer is in stable condition in a hospital after being shot during an armed robbery.
Investigators say the off-duty officer was volunteering at his church Saturday when he was confronted by three armed men. The suspects robbed him and then shot the officer in the chest.
The officer was taken to the hospital where he's listed in stable condition. The officer has been in law enforcement for over ten years.
The suspects remain on the loose. The investigation continues.
It was not immediately known if the suspects knew the victim was a police officer.
