BAINBRIDGE, Ga. -- Renovations will restore a historic hangar at a south Georgia airport that trained pilots during World War II.

WALB-TV reports that Decatur County is getting local donations and federal grants to improve the 28,000-square-foot facility at the county airport.

Built in 1942, the hangar was once part of a World War II training facility for pilots. The airport housed hundreds of airplanes.

County Administrator Gary Breedlove said local officials want to bring back pilots who trained at the airport once the work is complete.
