JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 16-year-old has died as a result of his injuries after police say he accidentally shot himself at home Friday night, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has confirmed.
The investigation into Zachary Dean Willis' death is ongoing, according to JSO Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda.
JSO is still waiting for the medical examiner's office to make a ruling, so as of now, Willis' death is an undetermined death.
The incident happened on Somerset Grove Lane around 10 p.m. Friday.
Investigators told First Coast News on Friday that Willis' parents were not home and several of his friends were at the house with him.
Four people were in the house when the accident happened, according to police.
