MARIETTA, Ga. -- A Cobb County jury is hearing emotional testimony in the trial of a man charged with killing a flight attendant and stabbing her young son 17 years ago.
The slain woman's son, Nickolas Smith, was 5 years old when he was stabbed 18 times. He wept Tuesday as he testified the stabbing "felt like I was kind of getting punched."
Waseem Daker is on trial for murder in the 1995 strangling death of Karmen Smith. Daker wasn't charged until 2009, when prosecutors say DNA linked him to the crime.
WSB-TV reports Daker is acting as his own attorney.
In court he asked Christine Valenti, who was in the house during the attack, if she wants him to go to prison. She answered, "Yes."
