OKEECHOBEE, Fla. (AP) -- Two people are being treated in the hospital after their small plane crashed near the Okeechobee County airport.

The extent of their injuries has not been released.

WPTV TV reports the victims were on the small engine Lancair aircraft that was trying to land at the airport Sunday afternoon. It crashed off a highway behind a store.

A tractor trailer caught fire nearby.

Crews are on scene investigating.
