CUMMING, Ga. -- An artist is offering a reward for tips that lead to the recovery of the 400-pound eagle sculpture he created.

The bronze statue is believed to have been stolen from a park near a walking and biking path north of Atlanta, in Forsyth County. Police say it probably took a team of people to lift the sculpture off its foundation on Aug. 27.

The artist, Gregory Johnson, tells WSB-TV that he's offering $500 of his own money as a reward for leads that lead to the recovery of the sculpture.

The sculpture was at a trailhead of the Big Creek Greenway.

Forsyth County's parks director, Jerry Kinsey, says officials hope someone will return the eagle.
