Wiener Neustadt, Austria (Sports Network) - Sweden's Caroline Hedwall
successfully defended her title on Sunday at the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open.
Hedwall carded a 2-under 70 and cruised to victory. She finished at 13-under
203 and won by four shots over Mikaela Parmlid and Laura Davies, both of whom
shot 68s on Sunday.
Linda Wessberg (69), Anne-Lise Caudal (69) and Alison Whitaker (73) shared
fourth place at 8-under 208.
Hedwall began the final round with a two-stroke lead and struggled early with
a bogey at the par-5 opening hole. She overcame the hiccup and birdied four
straight holes to close her front nine.
Hedwall was in charge and stumbled a bit with two bogeys in the first three
holes of her second side. She got back on track with a birdie at the par-3
14th and parred out for the easy victory.
Hedwall earned her fifth Ladies European Tour title and first of the year. She
won four times last year, including this event.
Henrietta Zuel (67) and Veronica Zorzi (69) tied for seventh at minus-7.
