NEW YORK (AP) - Wall Street rallied strongly ahead of today's monthly jobs report. Only the Thursday session was in reaction to the latest developments in Europe.

The strong advance left the benchmark S&P 500 index at its highest level since January 2008.

The Dow rose 245 points, or 1.9 percent, to 13,292. For the Dow, it was the highest close since December 2007.

The S&P gained 29 to 1,432. And the Nasdaq jumped 67 points to 3,136.

Investors applauded a long-awaited plan to support struggling countries in the European Union with bond buying.
