Lake City police search for unknown shooting suspect

LAKE CITY, Fla. -- The Lake City Police Department is searching for an unknown suspect in a shooting that left a man wounded in the leg.

Joseph J. Wellington, 21, was walking home in the area of the N.W. Main Boulevard overpass on Monday at 10:15 p.m. when he heard gunshots.

Wellington started running and then felt pain in his leg and found that he had been shot. He flagged down a car, which transported him to Lake Shore Hospital.

Officers searched areas under the overpass and could not find any evidence of the shooting. Wellington could not give officers any location or suspect information.
