JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Businesses at The Landing hope the Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan campaign rally Saturday will translate to big sales this weekend.
Doug Ganson, who owns an ice cream store and gift shop at The Landing said, "it creates so much energy and excitement and it doesn't matter what political bent you have. It's major people coming to this facility and it's just really exciting. It's great for business. It's great for the community, and it creates visibility for the landing and lets people know we are here."
He and other store owners are optimistic the huge crowd will make this one of the ten best days for business there this year.
"It has a major impact, " Ganson said. "That's a lot of people and they are going to be here anywhere from two to six hours."
Sherry Lyford, owner of River City Gourmet Shop said, "People don't know that The Landing has so many new shops. There's a lot to do down here, and a lot of shopping that people don't know about, little boutique type mom and pop shops. The local economy, this is definitely good for the local economy here at The Landing."
