ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Crews with the St. Johns County Fire Rescue department responded to a house fire at 1:15 Thursday morning.
The fire was in the 400 block of Watson Road, according to a news release from St. Johns County Fire Rescue Public Information Officer Jeremy Robshaw.
Robshaw said while crews were en route to the fire they were notified there was a possibly a person was still inside the home.
When firefighters arrived at the mobile home they reported heavy fire coming from the structure.
While crews worked to get the fire under control other rescue personnel conducted a primary search.
Due to the aggressive firefighting tactics used the fire was contained and brought under control in 15 minutes.
Robshaw said during the primary search of the home one victim was found deceased inside.
Fire rescue personnel stayed at the home for several hours to complete salvage and assist the State Fire Marshal's Office with their investigation. Both the death and the cause of the fire are being investigated by the State Fire Marshal's Office, St. Johns County Fire Rescue and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, Robshaw said.
