LAKE CITY, Fla. -- The Lake City Police Department is looking for a man after they say he robbed the Family Dollar on U.S. 90 West.

After the store was closed, around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night, two store employees were locking the front door and closing out their registers, according to a news release from Lake City Police Department Assistant Public Information Officer Craig Strickland.

Strickland said an unknown male was hiding in the back of the store before it closed. The man used a white t-shirt to cover half his face.

The robber also had a black T-shirt wrapped on his hand, Strickland said, leading store employees to believe he was armed.

The employees were forced to the back of the store where their hands were taped together. The masked man then left the employees in the bathroom.

The man then took cash from the registers and fled the store.

Officers from the Lake City Police Department were joined by K-9 teams from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Department of Corrections in their search. Despite the assistance of the four-legged law enforcement officers, the suspect was able to escape.

Anyone with information about this incident, or any others, may contact the Lake City Police Department anonymously on the TIP line at 386-719-2068.
