UPDATE: Police Release ID of Monday West 19th Street Shooting Victim

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has released the identity of the teen killed by gunfire Monday afternoon on West 19th Street.

The person killed who was killed has been identified as 17-year-old Lavonia Dewitt Jackson. The Public Information Office of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office released his identity Tuesday.

According to police, they were dispatched to a shooting shortly after 3:15 p.m. Monday afternoon.

When they arrived on West 19th Street, emergency personnel with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department had already pronounced Jackson dead.

Witnesses tell police the victim was riding his bicycle when a dark vehicle approached him and he was shot several times.
