CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- Nobody was injured, but two homes were riddled with bullets overnight, and investigators are wondering why.

According to Clay County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Mary Justino, a family had gone to bed in their home on Woodlawn Drive, near Oakleaf School, when around 2 a.m., according to a woman in the home, someone pulled up in a vehicle, got out and opened fire on the house.

The woman said she took cover, and when the shooting was over she checked on her children.

They were unhurt but "extremely shaken up," according to Justino.

The first deputies to arrive reported seeing multiple bullet holes in the home, including in a bedroom with a broken window.  A vehicle in the driveway had also been hit several times, and several shell casings were on the ground.

The deputies saw bullet holes in a neighbor's house as well, and he told the deputies he though rocks or sticks were hitting the house, and when it stopped he went back to sleep.

Investigators searched the neighborhood but found no suspects.

Justino said the sheriff's office is unsure why that home was targeted.
