JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police arrested a man who bought Jaguars tickets with counterfeit $20 bills after the woman who sold them noticed the two bills "did not feel right."
A season ticket holder told police she drove to the stadium to sell two of her season tickets and saw a man standing on the curb with a sign saying "I need tickets."
She spoke to the man, Grady Douglas Jr, 44, through her window and he offered her $50 and dropped two twenties and a ten into her front passenger seat. She said the buyer was attempting to "rush" her with the transaction. She gave him the tickets and drove away.
She then noticed the two twenties did not "feel" right and came back to the stadium area and contacted the police.
The woman and the officer located the man outside Gate 3. He had no counterfeit bills in his possession and he no longer had the tickets.
Douglas denied any knowledge of counterfeit bills and denied buying tickets from the victim. The woman told police she was sure Douglas was the one who bought her tickets and recognized him from a distinctive scar on his face.
A U.S. Secret Service agent was called to the stadium by police to interview the suspect.
Police then arrested Douglas on charges of uttering forged bills and took him to the Duval County Jail. The counterfeit bills were placed in the property room for evidence.
