INDIANAPOLIS -- Gaudy Christmas sweaters are usually regarded as a fashion faux pas, but some retailers say the unique, eye-catching threads are making a comeback.
The one-time darlings of your grandmother's closet became a party trend on college campuses a few years ago.
Now, they're all the rage at holiday parties.
Pam Windler drove from Lafayett to Broad Ripple Vintage to find a sweater.
"I'm really into not only a lot of stuff in the front, but I want a little stuff in the back, too. The gaudier the better," says Windler.
According to store owner Stephanie Cater, ugly Christmas sweaters help people get into the holiday spirit.

"They're just cheery little numbers, you know. They've got bells and bows, sometimes they have Santa with a puppy dogs or kitty cats, they put you in a happy mood."
If you are considering buying an ugly sweater, you may want to get one soon, because what's on the rack now won't be there for long.
