EVERGLADES, Fla. -- Workers trying to control exotic vegetation found something else rather exotic instead.
The contractors for the South Florida Water Management District came across a python in their path...a 16-to-18-foot python.
Adding to its impressive size was a bulge from a recent meal that made the snake more than 3 feet around.
Pythons are not native to the region and are considered pests, so they are legal targets for hunters.
The snake has been put down.
