CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- ABC's Extreme Home Makeover featured a First Coast family on Sunday's episode.

It's been a few months since frozen volleyballs were chucked through coach Carrie Prewitts home on Chicory Avenue in Middleburg.

That demolition and rebuilding project brought out thousands of spectators...and thousands of volunteers.

Sunday night, it all came together as the family watched the show with close friends.

"The house is great," said Prewitt, a mother to three foster children.

What usualy takes 6 months took just days to build, no easy feat for volunteer builders.

Randy Long of JA Longs said, "These are difficult houses to build. You have to come back and do touch up paint."

The Mother's Day special of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition focused on Prewitt because she took in a trio of sisters two years ago...one of them was her volleyball athlete. The girls had been placed in foster care.

"I didn't think about reservations," said Prewitt. "I just thought, 'These girls can't get broken up in spearate homes.' I think being a coach prepared me."

The family said the new home built by caring strangers is a place for which they will always be thankful.

"It's not only special because it's our home," said Prewitt. "It's so much more special because I feel all that when I walk in...for us."
