ATLANTA, Ga. -- A Georgia man has been charged with insurance fraud after filing claims in the name of unsuspecting policy holders.
An investigation conducted by the Georgia State Board of Workers' Compensation's Enforcement Division led to the arrest of William David Rodeffer III, aka W.D. Rodeffer, according to a release from the Georgia State Board of Workers' Compensation's Enforcement Division.
Rodeffer, 36, is the owner of the Satilla Insurance Group in Folkston, Georgia and is also associated with a business known as Integrated Insurance Solutions, the release detailed.
The Enforcement Division's investigation alleges that Rodeffer fraudulently took premium dollars for workers' compensation insurance policies that were never issued and instead issued the unsuspecting client a bogus certificate of insurance as proof they had workers' compensation insurance coverage. It is suspected Rodeffer has fraudulently obtained over $7,400.00 in workers' compensation premiums from the victim.
Rodeffer is charged with four counts of felony insurance fraud, forgery and providing false statements to a state law enforcement agency.
If any business owner in the Charlton, Camden and Glynn County areas has purchased workers' compensation insurance through the Satilla Insurance Group, they are asked to contact the State Board of Workers' Compensation's Enforcement Division at 404-657-7285 or 800-533-0682.
All other lines of insurance coverage such as auto, home or general liability should be verified directly with the insurance carrier.
