JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- At the Generations Hair Salon in Lawtey, Gwen Fletcher is the owner and operator.

"The hair is a woman's glory," said Fletcher. "When I look at myself in the mirror, after having my leukemia, I just, I want hair."

Fletcher, a cancer survivor, turned to the Hair Club company to treat her hair after it was damaged from radiation treatment, but ended up only with disappointment, she said.

Fletcher said after her first appointment, it wasn't what she expected. "When I went in there, I didn't know what they were going to do. I just wanted hair."

ON YOUR SIDE

Fletcher said her hair restoration treatment involved attaching a hair piece to her scalp at a cost of $3,000.

But the piece was very uncomfortable, she said. "When I tried to sleep in it that week, it was so uncomfortable. That hair piece was like a ballcap."

Fletcher couldn't show us the terms of her contract, saying she never received one from the company, but she said the company welcomed her as a new customer.

"They said, 'we're going to make you beautiful; you're going to love your hair when we're done with it'," said Fletcher.

Fletcher had three appointments, but after the first experience she's decided to just wear the crown already on her head. "I've seen a lot of people going in, they might be happy with their hair, I was not," said Fletcher.

Joy Griffis, managing director of the Hair Club Belfort Road location, said this is the first time she has heard of Fletcher's complaint. "Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction," said Griffis.

But Fletcher said she first disputed the treatment last fall and can't understand why it is taking so long for a resolution.

"If you don't like it you can get your money back," Griffis added.

Griffis said Fletcher has to follow protocol and request a refund. Fletcher plans to file a formal request for a refund.
