Warning: Twitter hoax hacks phones by dialing 911 nonstop

Twitter links hack phones by dialing

A dangerous link is circulating on Twitter. If clicked, the user's phone automatically begins to dial 911 non-stop.

Twitter users across the country are posting warnings to be careful about the suspicious link. The hack occurs right after a user clicks the link on their mobile phone. The phone repeatedly dials 911 even if the user hangs up.

The link is also being disguised with other headlines as click-bait. One post promised a new YouTube video with the prank link copied below.

Law enforcement says that, in this particular case, the non-stop calls tie up dispatchers and hurt the people who are calling with real emergencies.  As a precautionary measure, be wary of clicking on any strange links.
