NEW ORLEANS -- More than two years after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, a long time resident of that city has finally returned home. 100-year-old Rose Cosey returned to her east New Orleans home this weekend.
The home, built by her late husband was nearly destroyed in Katrina. Cosey says despite the damage and the fact she lost everything in the storm, she knew God would provide.
"He have a place for me, he promised I?ll never leave you nor forsake you. I?ll be with you even to the end. So regardless of what go down, I said Lord you promised me," preaches Cosey.
She's held on to that promise since the storm.
"When you pray Jesus will have his way people will come," said Cosey.
Elijah Mealanchon of Elijah Christian Ministries said, "Because of her age, courage, her health and spirit of determination. It was a storm, but the storm made her stronger."
Both mentally and spiritually more than 90 volunteers came together to make this day possible for Cosey. For those still waiting to return, Cosey had this advice.
"Wait on the Lord. That's what you have to do."
