Two hospitalized after motorcycle, pedestrian collision

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two men were seriously injured Tuesday night after a collision between a motorcycle and pedestrian on Main Street.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, a 27 year old man was riding his motorcycle on Main Street and struck a 53 year old pedestrian who was attempting to cross the street. The 53 year old man is known to be a homeless person in the area, according to JSO.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Main Street and East 23rd Street before 8:30 p.m.

The homeless man was taken to UF Health in life-threatening condition and the driver of the motorcycle is in serious condition at the same hospital.

JSO says the portion of the road contained no legal crossing.

Portions of Main Street are closed during the investigation.
