CLAY COUNTY, FL -- It's a street where the signs of children are everywhere. But beyond the well-manicured lawns and the road's gentle curves, Clay County deputies say a pornographer was at work.
John Kistler is accused of befriending two 16-year old boys by giving them alcohol and then taking pornographic pictures.
"He was known by the family. He was trusted by the family," says Melissa Dangerfield, who is part of brand new Special Victims Unit at the Clay County Sherrif's Office. It now handles cases like Kistlers.
Dangerfield says the 32-year old used his aquarium business to be alone with one of the boys. A tactic she says is common.
"If you like a certain age range person you might surround yourself with things that would interest those, you might have a pool, you might have a pool table, depending on the age," says Dangerfield.
Because digital cameras are in just about every home and there's no film that needs to go to a developer, Dangerfield fears there will be more John Kistlers.
"It's made us start realizing that production of child pornography is becoming more prevalent than just trading pictures of old pictures that were made in some other country or 20 years ago. The production has become much easier," says Dangerfield.
All the more reason a new Special Victims Unit is on the case.
Kistler faces three charges related to the arrest. He has entered three pleas of not-guilty.
Clay County records show he is being held on a probation violation charge in Tennessee. The prosecutor handling his case in Clay County has asked that he be brought back to Florida to face these charges. The prosecutor says that request has been granted.
