JACKSONVILLE, FL -- In a 24 hour period, the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office arrested two students armed with guns at two Duval County schools.
On Tuesday, a 15-year-old Raines High School student told officers he had a gun on him when they went to serve the boy a warrant for his arrest.
The officer had originally patted the student down before handcuffing him. However, the student had wrapped the gun in a headband.
Once inside the patrol car, the student told the officer he had a gun on him.
The student told the officer that he would not use the gun at school, but was for his protection.
The student told police that he needed the gun because he was going to his neighborhood.
Another 15-year-old was arrested near Paxon Middle School on Tuesday.
Police say Derrick Ford was carrying a loaded gun to the school campus. The teen is also a convicted felon.
Police also charged Ford with carrying crack cocaine.
