JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FL -- A local teen could face felony child pornography charges after nude images and video of local juveniles were discovered on a MySpace page.

It began when the mother of a Fletcher Middle School student checked her daughter's MySpace page and followed a link posted by a fellow student.

That link led to dozens of photos of young teens having fun, but then there were several disturbing photos and at least one sexual video.

She contacted Jacksonville Beach Police, where detectives went online to download evidence.

"Unfortunately there were quite a few pictures in it were of a pornographic nature and there were also some pornographic videos that were on the site," said Jacksonville Beach Sgt. Thomas Bingham.

Asked if they were juveniles, Bingham replied, "Involving juveniles."

Police are now trying to locate the young teens in the photos to interview them.

Investigators are also trying to retrieve the corporate MySpace internet records to learn who posted the material.

"There were some middle school --some Fletcher Middle School students involved," said Sgt. Bingham, who said it's too early in the investigation to know if the photos are limited to Fletcher Middle School students or if others are involved as well.

The offending webpage has been taken down, but not before police gathered enough evidence to pursue sex charges against the person who posted them.

"Distribution of child pornography, it's a felony!" said Bingham.

On Thursday, January 24th, Fletcher Middle School is sponsoring a "Family Night," where experts will offer parents ways to protect their children from becoming internet victims.
