DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - For sale in South Florida: A bridge that has never been crossed. The Davie Town Council commissioned the 90-foot bridge last year to carry horseback riders and hikers across a canal.
What they got, though, is considered an eyesore. It turns out that the design plans were never reviewed, so the construction firm built a bridge designed for vehicle traffic and not horses or walking. The bridge cost $111,250, plus $17,400 for shipping.
The town isn't pouring the concrete that would make its installation permanent. Instead, officials are putting the bridge up for sale. The Miami Herald reports that the asking price is whatever someone is willing to pay.
