DENVER -- A pediatric cardiologist in Arizona is being investigated by his employer, Banner Health, over tweets mocking a Denver Post reporter who lost a friend in the Aurora theater shooting.
Denver Post sportswriter Adrian Dater retweeted the comments that appear to have been in response to something he wrote about the Phoenix Coyotes hockey team.
"Go catch a movie in Aurora" wrote the Twitter user Baby Doc Scott. "Join Jessica for all I care."
The Tweet is referring to Jessica Ghawi, an aspiring journalist and friend of Dater's. She was killed inside the theater.
KUSA called Dr. Scott Schnee at Banner Health in Phoenix to confirm it was his account and that he sent the Tweets in question. He did not respond. The Twitter account is now disabled.
Banner Health issued a statement saying it is gathering information on the situation and takes the matter very seriously.
Jessica Ghawi's mother Tweeted to the pediatric cardiologist: "Does he know Jessie had a heart condition? Doctor, I would suggest you heal yours."
