MIAMI -- A baby who couldn't wait entered the world on the side of I-95 in South Florida early Tuesday morning.

A family was on their way to the hospital when the woman went into labor near Miami Gardens Drive.

Her husband pulled over and called 911 but by the time Miami-Dade Fire Rescue workers arrived, the baby was born.

Wayne Sparks, with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, said they cut the umbilical cord and checked out the baby and mother, who were fine.

"The fact that we a lot of time work tragedies, it's a good feeling to know that this time we assisted in bringing a new life into the world," Sparks said
