ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. (WESH) -- Police said a man tried to steal money from a Altamonte Springs Pizza Hut, but walked away with ingredients instead.

Last month, a burglar smashed out the front window of the store on State Road 434 at 2 a.m.

"Took a crow bar and smashed out the front window of the Pizza Hut. He immediately took the cash register and tossed it to the ground, and when it didn't open, he went to the back, grabbed two boxes of mozzarella cheese and left," said Altamonte Springs Police officer Robert Pelton.

Officials said they are not sure how much the cheese is worth but said the burglar will face prison time if he is caught.

"We're asking the public to take a good look at this video. If they know this person, they'll be able to identify him. The picture is very clear," said Pelton.

Anyone with information about the stolen cheese is asked to call the Altamonte Springs Police Department or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
