TAMPA, Fla. -- Rich McGannon is a quiet guy. He lives in a
modest home in North Tampa with his two dogs, but that was last
week. This week, he is looking for his SUV and his dog, both stolen at
the same time.
On June 19, Rich went to the Walmart on North Dale
Mabry and Waters to get some dog food. His white, long-haired female
dog, Poochie, went with him and sat in the back seat. But when Rich came
out of the store five minutes later, Poochie and his truck were both
gone.
Rich immediately called the police to report the
theft of Poochie and his Black 2007 Chevy Tahoe, then papered his
neighborhood with flyers offering a nice chunk of change for
information. A $5,000 chunk of change.
That's how much he wants his dog back.
"My grandfather gave me that dog. He died of cancer about two
years ago, and he asked me to take care of her. She means everything to
me," McGannon said.
Since the theft, Rich spends time with the only
family he has, his red-haired dog, Brit. She's been with him since
birth, but Rich said home just isn't the same without Poochie, and he's
putting his money where his mouth is for help.
Anyone with information about the truck or dog are asked to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
