JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Facebook users can donate a dollar to the Jacksonville Humane Society without spending a dime.
As part of the 'Like Us, Love Them' campaign, the Jacksonville Jaguars will donate one dollar to the Humane Society for every new 'like' they get on Facebook during the month of November. The campaign will end at midnight tonight.
As of 4 a.m. the Jaguars only had an additional ten thousand 'likes,' but the Jaguars Foundation has agreed to give up to $50,000.
"To date, we've got more than 10,000 new 'likes' just in this month campaign, which we're very proud of, but we sure don't want to leave any of that $50,000 left sitting on the table," said Denise Deisler, Executive Director of the Jacksonville Humane Society.
The organization will use the money to provide scholarships for at-risk children to attend their Camp Paw Prints.
"These are kids who get a chance to interact with pets who otherwise might not ever have that opportunity to learn those lessons of responsibility that comes with pet care, to learn lessons of tenderness and kindness and empathy," Deisler said.
