JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The City of Jacksonville will be letting 150 employees go and demoting another 150, that's according to City spokesman David DeCamp.
Employees will be notified this week of their status change. It will go into effect later this month on the 29th.
"It's important to note these are among the most difficult
decisions we ever have to make. But extraordinary budget challenges for the
fiscal year of 2012-13 have forced us to do so as a last resort," said DeCamp.
Exact employment numbers will be released after retirements and other resignations from current City employees.
DeCamp said the City will be working with WorkSource to set up a career fair for the terminated employees.
