Man convicted for beating man with crowbar

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Nicholas Warren has been convicted on charges of attempted felony murder and armed robbery.

According to a news release from the State Attorney's Office, Warren, 23, and a co-defendant, James Taylor, broke into a a Jacksonville Beach home in March 2012.

After breaking into the home, the two used a crowbar to beat Matthew Longhway.

The two also tried to shoot Longhway, according to the release, but the gun jammed each time they pulled the trigger.

Warren took a laptop, other electronics and several TV's after beating Longhway.

Warren faces mandatory life in prison. He is set to be sentenced September 17. The co-defendant Taylor plead guilty to the same charges earlier in August. Taylor is scheduled to be sentenced August 27.
