JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is sponsoring the 15th Annual Avenues Shadco (Sheriff's Advisory Council) Safety Fair, Saturday, August 18th from 10 am to 2 pm.

It's a free event that will be held at the Avenues Mall at 10300 Southside Boulevard. There will be dozens of safety exhibits and demonstrations.

Representatives from Operation Safe Kids will be giving parents electronic fingerprints and photographs of their children, and there will be a child safety seat inspection from 10 am to 12 pm.

McGruff the Crime Dog, Smokey the Bear, and many other children's characters will be there for the kids. Officers will also have police cars, helicopters and boats on display.
