JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars receiver and top draft pick Justin Blackmon apologized today for getting arrested over the weekend for driving while intoxicated in Oklahoma.
Blackmon said he is done with drinking for now, but said he cannot promise that ten years from now, he wouldn't have a drink.
Both General Manager Gene Smith and Head Coach Mike Mularkey sat alongside Blackmon at the press conference. Both expressed extreme disappointment in the rookie's behavior and concern over his welfare both on and off the field.
As for any type of suspension, that becomes a league issue and negotiations continue to sign the draft pick.
Blackmon's next court date is July 24, three days before the first day of Jaguars training camp.
