JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Homicide investigators said the victim of a Westside shooting is a 13-year-old girl hit twice after gunmen fired 20 to 30 shots.
She was shot at an apartment complex off of 103rd Street and Westchase Court.
JSO Lt. Rob Schoonover said this was a retaliation shooting between two groups of people over a romantic relationship with a man.
Some of the people with the victim armed themselves with bats and sticks, and began striking a car with people inside, he said. That's when two people brought out guns.
Police said she was involved in this with her older sister. Police don't know if the victim was armed.
Lt. Mike Eason said police found the girl after a group of people in a car flagged down an officer at Firestone Road and Wilson Boulevard. A JFRD spokesman said the victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. JSO says she is now in stable condition.
At this time, police have no suspects, but they are interviewing a lot of people.
