JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Duval County leads all of America with the most number of confirmed number of West Nile cases.
We have 11 confirmed cases of West Nile this year, ahead of second-ranked L.A. County with eight, Stanislaus County, Calif., with seven and Pearl River County, Miss., and Maricopa County, Ariz. with four.
Duval County is also the only county in Florida with confirmed cases, according to the Duval County Health Department.
Leaders there encourage people to dump standing water and cover containers to avoid getting mosquitos.
Meanwhile, the Finance Committee is asking all city departments to cut their budget. That could affect mosquito control. Mayor's spokesman Abel Harding said the proposed cuts cut mean losing one mosquito control pilot.
