ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - Homicide detectives have arrested the estranged husband of a Fruit Cove woman found murdered in her home three months ago.
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said detectives arrested Sean Bush, 42, at his home in Jacksonville, on a charge of first degree murder in the death of Nicole Bush, 35.
Detectives say Bush had been a person of interest in the investigation since the beginning and following the execution of several search warrants and the results of DNA testing.
They obtained a search warrant late this afternoon and, with assistance from the U.S. Marshal's Office, arrested him at his home on Attelboro Street. He was taken to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for questioning.
On the morning of May 31, the sheriff's office received a call to check on the victim's welfare at a townhome in the 800 block of Southern Creek Drive. When deputies arrived, they found Bush alive, but with multiple gunshot and stab wounds. She was rushed to Shands Jacksonville where she later died.
On the arrest of Sean Bush, Sheriff David Shoar said, "I am especially relived to get the suspect of this brutal homicide off the streets and to finally give the family of Nicole Bush some closure to this horrific crime."
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said Bush was being booked into the Duval County Jail Friday night since he was arrested in Jacksonville. A transfer to St. Johns County will occur at a later date.
