RENO, NV -- For the second time in three days a pilot has died in a crash at the National Championship Air Races in Nevada.
Brad Morehouse of Afton, Wyoming was killed Thursday when his L-39 Albatross jet crashed during competition.
Witness and photographer Heinz Soll, who captured the accident in photos, says "He snapped rolled very fast recovered, went into a shallow dive hit the ground."
The cause of Thursday's fiery crash is under investigation however race officials say the pilot likely hit what is called wake turbulence causing the crash.
"An airplane when it passes through the air, puts out a wake, similar to a boat passing through water, only thing is, in water you can see that visible phenomenon. said longtime pilot Brian Sanders.
As the National Transportation Safety Board continues to investigate, race officials say despite this tragic incident the race will continue Friday in honor of Morehouse.
"That is what Brian Morehouse would of wanted us to do. His wife said this is the happiest day in his life, when he got on that plane. She said he was grinning from ear to ear what he was excited about doing," said event president Mike Houghton.
Morehouse is the second pilot to die at the race in the last three days.
On Tuesday, California pilot Steve Dari was killed when his biplane stalled shortly after takeoff.
17 people have been killed in the 44-year-history of the race.
The last time a pilot was killed at the race was in 2002.
