PALATKA, Fla. -- The Palatka Police Department arrested a 53-year-old man after he stabbed a man he was involved in an altercation with.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the 500 block of North 11th Street in Palatka to reports of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, the victim said he had been stabbed by Derral Wright.

The victim said he had hit him with a stick after Wright refused to leave the victim's property.

After being struck by the stick, Wright went back to his residence where according to police, he retrieved a knife and a golf club.

Wright went back to the victim's property where he stabbed the victim twice, police said.

Wright was arrested for aggravated battery and taken to the Putnam County Jail. His bond has been set at $2,504.

The victim was taken to the emergency room where he was treated and released.
