JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- As a mother, Alicia Torres is upset that prosecutors would ever try a 12-year-old boy as an adult.

Now 13, Cristian Fernandez is charged as an adult for the murder of his younger brother.

But Torres and many others want Fernandez to go through the juvenile justice system instead.  She has organized a rally this morning in front of the Duval County Courthouse to show support for the 13-year-old and to express her distaste for how he is being treated in the courts.

"Being a mother and having kids and just seeing that he's not mature enough to handle this--he shouldn't be treated this way," Torres said.  "It's not a one size fits all justice system."

This morning about a dozen supporters gathered outside the Duval County Courthouse in support of Fernandez.

The supporters held signs calling for justice for the now-13-year-old accused murderer.

Fernandez originally had a pretrial court hearing scheduled Wednesday morning.  That hearing was rescheduled for February 28th.
