Have you been sticking with your diet this year? Don't want to blow it tomorrow at the Thanksgiving table? Here's a how you can prep yourself so you can enjoy your turkey and eat it too.
First, workout in the morning. If your gym is open on Thursday it'll probably be empty. If it's closed, go for a brisk run or walk. You won't feel as guilty later when you're pouring the gravy over those mash potatoes.
Make sure you eat before you leave. Grab some nuts or a small healthy snack. That way your not famished when you sit down at the table. Make sure to drink water both before and during the meal. A glass of water has zero calories and it'll make you feel fuller, faster.
Watch those helpings. We all want to load up our plates with all the good stuff and there are always enablers who tell you to eat more. So watch the serving size. Seconds are ok but try to limit them.
A little wine with dinner is nice but go easy. The more booze you have the more you'll forget about portion size.
When you're eating slow down. It takes about 20 minutes before your brain tells your stomach that you're full. So enjoy some conversation between bites to avoid eating too fast.
And finally, try not to give into the pressure. It's tough to say no to people who may not take too keenly to your good habits. Happy Thanksgiving.
