New online tool helps you search Fla. beaches

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- There's nothing quite like a trip to a Florida beach during the summer time.

Now, Visit Florida hopes to help you find the one that fits you best. They created a new online beach finder.

"It's nice to know where the busier beaches are or the less busy beaches," said beach goer Mike Rice.

Here's how it works: Go to the site and choose which options you prefer, such as adventurous, romantic, secluded or manicured.

Then several places that match your preference pop up with how well they fit your criteria.

According to Visit Florida, most beaches in the state have different looks and feels to them. They would know, they studied more than 740 miles of coastline.

"I think it's a good idea so you'll know what to expect when you come," said beach goer Katie Kone.

Kone and her kids tried out Shell Point beach for the first time. She says it would've been nice to find out more information about it before going.

"I kind of looked up some pictures and there were only a few pictures of real estate and things," Kone said.

Trekkers set out with Google street view cameras, capturing pictures for people to see for themselves.

"The sand's different, the water's different, the sounds are different," said trekker David DeLong.

So now that there's a tool to help you enjoy your summer trip to the beach, don't forget your sun block and have fun.
